The Kingdom: Part 5

Mar 30, 2025    Jeff O'Harra

In this week's message, we're challenged to embrace the transformative power of mercy in our lives. The story of a young man forgiving his brother's killer in court serves as a striking example of what it truly means to be merciful. This act of forgiveness echoes Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5:7, 'Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.' We're reminded that mercy isn't just about being nice; it's about reflecting God's character in the face of injustice and pain. The parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18 further illustrates this point, showing us the stark contrast between God's boundless mercy and our often limited capacity to forgive. As we reflect on the immeasurable debt God has forgiven us, we're called to extend that same mercy to others, even when it's difficult. This message invites us to examine our hearts and ask: Are we truly living out the mercy we've received?
