Salt and Witness
What does it mean to truly be salt in a world that seems to be losing its flavor? In this message, we explore one of Jesus's most vivid and practical descriptions of what it looks like to live as a follower of Christ. Drawing from Matthew 5:13, we are reminded that our identity as believers is not passive -- we are meant to preserve, purify, and add something to the world around us that it simply cannot produce on its own. But here is the challenge: salt can lose its saltiness. When our faith gets too mixed up with the surrounding culture, when we spend more time absorbing the world than influencing it, our distinctiveness fades. We look at how this happens through the lens of Hosea, Jeremiah, and Matthew 24, each painting a picture of a faith that has become diluted, incomplete, or grown cold. The call is not to isolate ourselves, but to stay connected to the One who keeps us salty. This message invites us to ask honestly: are we still distinct enough to make a difference in the lives of the people around us?
