God. Man. Christ.

Aug 2, 2026    Jonathan O'Harra

What does it truly mean to stand before a God who is holy beyond all comprehension? This message takes us on a sobering journey through Scripture to recover a vision of Yahweh that modern faith often softens or forgets entirely. From the trembling mountain of Sinai, where no man or beast could even touch the ground on which God descended, to the great white throne of Revelation where heaven and earth themselves flee from His presence, we are confronted with a God whose holiness is not a comfortable abstraction but a consuming, fearsome reality. The passages from Exodus 33 and 34 anchor this vision, showing us Moses hidden in the cleft of a rock, shielded by the very hand of God, because even his favored servant could not survive the full weight of divine glory. Yet this same God is merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. The tension between these truths is not a contradiction but the very heart of the gospel. When we grasp how truly set apart and righteous God is, and then see what He did in Christ to bring us near, the grace we have received becomes immeasurably greater. This message calls us to let that full picture reshape how we live, worship, and share our faith with others.
