A Grateful Church

Nov 23, 2025

This message takes us deep into Colossians 1:3-14, revealing how gratitude isn't just a personal feeling but an infectious force that transforms entire communities. We discover that Christian gratitude operates on three interconnected levels: we should be grateful for believers who live out the gospel around us, grateful for the hope the gospel itself brings, and grateful for those who dare to share it with others. The passage shows us that Paul had never even met the Colossians, yet he prayed for them daily with genuine thanksgiving. This challenges our tendency to only appreciate what directly benefits us. When we hear about God working in other churches, other cities, even other continents, do we stop to truly celebrate? Or do we offer a quick 'that's nice' and move on? The message reminds us that every testimony we hear, every transformed life we witness, is another opportunity to praise God. And here's the beautiful chain reaction: when we grow in understanding God's will through Scripture and prayer, we naturally grow in godliness, which produces fruit, which inspires gratitude in others, which motivates them to share the gospel, which transforms more lives. It's an endless cycle of grace multiplying grace. We're invited to see ourselves as links in this chain—both recipients of others' faithful gospel-sharing and potential carriers of this life-changing message to those still in darkness.
