Look and Live
This powerful message takes us deep into the wilderness journey of Israel, drawing remarkable parallels between their experience and our own faith walk. We discover that the journey from Egypt to the Promised Land mirrors our spiritual progression from salvation's initial joy through the difficult wilderness of sanctification, ultimately leading to resurrection hope. The Israelites' impatience and complaining when forced to take the long route around Edom reveals something profoundly human in all of us—when life doesn't go according to our timeline, when leaders disappoint us, when we face loss and detours, our true hearts are exposed. The fiery serpents God sent weren't merely punishment but a divine setup for one of Scripture's most beautiful pictures of Christ. Just as Moses lifted up the bronze serpent in the wilderness so that anyone who looked upon it would live, Jesus was lifted up on the cross so that whosoever believes in Him might have eternal life. The simplicity is stunning: look and live. Each person bitten had to make their own choice to look—salvation has always been an individual decision, not a corporate inheritance. This message challenges us to examine whether we're calling on God as the distant Elohim when things get hard, or trusting Him as Yahweh, our covenant-keeping Lord who has our best interests at heart even when the road is longer and harder than we ever imagined.
