The Pasture On The Other Side
This powerful message invites us to examine where we truly stand in our spiritual journey by exploring the profound symbolism of crossing the Jordan River. Drawing from Joshua chapters 3 and 4 alongside John 10:10, we're challenged to move beyond mere survival Christianity into the abundant life Jesus promised. The teaching presents three distinct stages of spiritual existence: Egypt represents bondage to sin before salvation; the wilderness symbolizes a saved but unfulfilled life where we're circling in survival mode rather than thriving; and Canaan—the Promised Land—represents the abundant, overflowing life available to us right now, not just in eternity. What's particularly striking is the reminder that abundant life doesn't mean absence of battles or giants, but rather living victoriously in the presence of our enemies with God going before us. The Jordan crossing required the Israelites to consecrate themselves and step into flood-stage waters by faith, trusting God would make a way. Similarly, we're called to identify what holds us back—fear, comfort, financial security, relationships—and release those things as we step forward in obedience. The Holy Spirit within us provides advantages the Israelites never had, yet many of us still live east of Jordan, saved but not possessing what God has prepared. This message beckons us to stop retreating, start advancing, and discover that the green pastures on the other side are more real than the obstacles before us.
